Our History - NW Mobile FEES

Northwest Mobile FEES, a subsidiary of Idaho Dysphagia Specialists, was established in response to a need for accessible, economic and objective dysphagia diagnostic services in Idaho, Washington and Oregon. We identified an opportunity to provide a convenient, cost efficient, accurate and safe instrumental exam available to patients in his/her OWN environment. 

Northwest Mobile FEES was the first local mobile FEES company to provide Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing in the Pacific Northwest! and 

​Instrumental exams are an important component for the Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) in dysphagia assessment and management and an integral part of to create a safe and effective plan of treatment.    SLPs have two options:  A Modified Barium Swallow study (MBS) and FEES.  

The MBS is a procedure completed as an outpatient at an acute care hospital and can be almost 4-5 times more expensive than FEES.  In addition, availability may be limited due to a number of factors including scheduling constraints which may inhibit progress towards goals within the patient's plan of care.  The burden on the patient (and cost) of having to travel to a hospital outpatient MBS procedure are eliminated with a prompt, minimally invasive and safe assessment such as FEES to achieving optimal patient outcomes and satisfaction.
